Celebrating the Women at Mykor: Meet Annie Ferrari, our Biotechnology Research Assistant

Annie is our Biotechnology Research Assistant at our Lab in Bristol, UK. She is skilled in research science and joined Mykor to combine her scientific knowledge and passion for sustainability to help create new solutions for the future.

In honour of Women's Month, we made a brief Q&A with Annie to share real insights of women in the construction industry and you can read it below:

  • How did you first become involved in the construction industry?

“My background is microbiology and mycology, so being a part of the team here with Mykor is my first involvement in the industry. As someone who is passionate about climate justice, I jumped at the chance to join a team working on reducing the environmental impacts of construction.”

  • What's a career highlight or accomplishment you're most proud of in your time with us?

“I love using the microscope to keep an eye on our fungi and make sure it's happy, but getting some tricky code to finally run a new program I've designed is always satisfying!”

  • How do you see diversity benefiting our team's dynamics and performance?

“Diversity within our team allows for input from people with a range of life experiences. It's these unique experiences that allow for innovative approaches to problems that are instrumental in the success of the team.”

  • What advice or encouragement would you offer to other women interested in joining the construction industry?

“My background is science, but i think the advice is similar. Be passionate about what you do and don't be afraid to speak up. Have confidence in yourself and your expertise and most importantly; stay curious!”
